Gama Bomb: Citizen brain

10/06/08  ||  Euthanatos

I haven’t reviewed a thrash metal album in a while, and we all know I need my eighties thrash metal fix or else I’ll die a horrible death, so here are the Brits of Gama Bomb. I hadn’t really heard of Gama Bomb until a few weeks ago, with “Survival of the Fastest” landing on my lap somehow. I loved every minute of it. Fast, furious, ferocious thrash metal. “Citizen Brain”, their new effort, is even better than the last, and it makes me cum with joy to listen to this album.

See, there’s three things you need to know about Gama Bomb. One, their songs usually are around the 2 minute mark. Two, they really enjoy the topic of zombies, ghouls and overall horror crap. Which, it just so happens, I do too. Release anything with the word “zombie” on it, and I’ll probably like it. Except the remake of “Day of the Dead”. That movie was a load of crap. Oh, and finally, three; Gama Bomb makes kick-ass thrash metal songs, extremely fast and entertaining. “Zombie Blood Nightmare”. “Hammer Slammer”. “Sentenced to Thrash”. “Zombi Brew”. “Thrashaholic”. “Space Invaders”. “In The Court Of General Zod”. How the fuck can you go wrong with song titles like that? It’s just beautiful.

But the great thing is, even though they are, purposefully, outdated, playing a style straight from 1980-whatever, the riffs are fucking awesome. Listen to “Final Fight” and tell me that you don’t feel the urge to go outside and beat an old lady with a baseball bat. I dare you.

The drums and guitars are perfect (and there are some amazing solos!), the bass could be a little more present, the vocals, a mix of screams and high-pitched screams are like the ideal blend of Kreator and Destruction.

Get this album if you’re into real, old school, finely crafted thrash metal. Hell, get “Survival of the Fastest” too. You won’t be disappointed.

The cover: Oh. Dear. God. It. Is. Beautiful.

8.5 God bless the Queen out of 10.
